Evaluate an app: The Sixth Week

Here we are on my seventh side of my book and here is an useful application for language laerners: Busuu. Busuu helps you learn a new language with activities which involves listenings, tests, writings and even correcting the another's sentences.When you download this app, just select the language and enjoy with it! 
Unlike other apps, correcting the others' mistakes and making comments helps students learning a language in an active way. Commenting and correcting also makes students see temselves in a different perspectives.

Digital Storytelling: The Fifth Week

Here we are on my sixth side of my book and here is a story made by me and my friend Ayşenur Efe. To make an active, creative and joyful story we spend many time and tools. The first tool is storybird. With storybird, you can create your own story or publish it. There are steps to help you to do it. 

The second tool is a well-known tool, moviemaker. With movie maker we add our records mand music to our story. Collecting music, records and pictures in one story is not so easy but we wre able to it. Digital storytelling will make very young learners to encourage theirselves and to having a better friendships with their lecturers. Because collaborating is also very important in this issue. It will also improve their pronunciation levels and writing and speaking skills. 

Evaluate a website: The Fourth Week

Here we are on my fifth side on my book and there is a very useful site for EFL teachers: LingoRank. "LingoRank is a tool to help intermediate and upper-intermediate students of English improve their listening skills and vocabulary" said in the main page. 

When you enter it you can see the steps of learning and improving English.

The thing which makes LingoRank differ from the other sites is improving the skills with a well-known site: TED Talks.

There are different section and different levels of TED talk you can listen. Just select your topic and level and improve your English in a enjoyable way. Also you can create your playlists and your vocabulary list. And, you can test yourself with LingoRank's test if you want.

Under the videos there are 'vocabulary' and 'difference and the speed of the speech' sections with these sections you can list your words and you can learn the level of the speech.

When you click on 'About Me' you can see the creator: Jesus.

I think, by listening TED talks helps studentsto learn new words and to upgrade their levels. When they listen on their own, they will have more self-confident and they will learn new and creative things.

Rss Feed: The Third Week

Here we are on my fourth left side on my book and there are rss feeds in. Rss feed is a system with which you can follow other's blogs and web sites. Just one click helps you to go around different types of blogs and sites with rss feed. For surfing them with rss feed, you can use feedreader. After creating a new account, you will be able to read your rss feeds eaisly. If you want to read different ideas and tecniques for your department or hobbies rss feed is very useful for you.

Temple Grandin: The Second Week

Here we are on my third left side of my book. There is an Wiki page on my third left side. This Wiki is about Temple Grandin(2010) biographic movie. In our class, we had a homework creating a wiki film review page. I made this homework with my classmate Ayşenur Efe. As, this homework needs a partner, too, finding a movie which we both watched is very hard for us, because we have different tastes of movie. But, after longlists of movies we were ale to find a certain movie, Temple Grandin. Making a Wiki page can be useful to improve the students' wting abilities. And also, you can get more details about your students' world.

Forget Everything: The First Week

Here we are second left side of my book. There is a podcast on my second left side. This podcast is "Forget Everything". In our Tecnology & Materials Design class we had a homework making a podcast which lasts just one minute. Also, this podcast must tell an interesting and weird idea which can change the world radically. I made this podcast with my classmate, Yağız Dolgun. As the podcast needs a partner, it was very hard finding each other for us. But, with a diciplined work we were be able to put this podcast on our blogs. Since we didn't talk rapidly and broad, I think this podcast will more useful for A1 classes. 
I think podcasting is very useful especially for english classes because podcasting need two things; the student's sound and text. Recording their sounds can improve student's pronunciation and talking skills and also, writing a text can improve students grammar and writing skills. Besides, recording a text ad sharing on a blog will encourage them. I hope you will enjoy with our podcast.

The First Left Side of My Notebook

Hello Everyone 

I am Sinem Çetiner. As you can understand i am an elt student at Marmara University. Like taking notes, i share all i see about things that can lessons enjoyable at least. While I am taking the Technology and Materials Design course, i post the perspective of a student. Most student like the left side of a notebook, because for the right-hand it is easier to write.
